Historic Preservation

In addition to the restoration of Hotel del Coronado’s original front porch, the multi-phase development will include the preservation of buildings that date back to the late 1800s and early 1900s.

With meticulous attention to detail, this element will be recreated, including the second set of stairs that originally served as the ladies entrance. This feature will be the first thing guests and visitors see as they arrive from the new main entry.

Laundry Building Administrative Offices

This building has been restored to its former architectural glory with OBR Architecture and with consulting by David Marshall of Heritage Architecture & Planning. It will be a temporary administrative space with plans to open the building to The Del’s guests in the future.

Power Plant Meeting Space

The mezzanine level of the power plant will be extended to its original depth and renovated to serve as a co-work lounge and meeting space for groups.

This restored and renovated structure will become the Ice House Museum, serving as the hotel’s history gallery with permanent exhibits and rotating displays revealing The Del’s fascinating past.

Reclaimed brick circa 1910

Legacy Brick Program

Be a part of The Del’s ever-evolving history with a custom engraved reclaimed brick from the original 1910 industrial buildings. The commemorative bricks will be used to create the Legacy Court, a brick terrace entryway to The Del’s new Ice House Museum.

The Oxford

As part of the Master Plan, The Oxford will undergo an exterior and interior renovation appropriate for its setting at the new main entry. The exterior of the building will be restored to its original color.
